My First Impressions

EarthVPN is a Northern Cyprus-based VPN company, which is a subsidiary of a Northern Cyprus internet service provider. My first impression about the website is negative. The main reason is the lack of secure SSL connection certificate on the website. Another reason is that, the website seems outdated. The last update is from 2012, and “recent tweets” are from 2013. The website also lacks live chat support.  EarthVPN offers Chinese language website in addition to the English one (somehow Chinese version has SSL certificate).

Does EarthVPN keep logs?

EarthVPN does not log user activity, also known as traffic logs. They note that, neither EarthVPN, nor a third party can match an IP address to a user. However, there is no information about IP address and connection logs.

To summarize, EarthVPN does not collect:

  • traffic logs (a.k.a user activity)
EarthVPN Logging Policy
EarthVPN Privacy Policy

Here, the question is, if EarthVPN does not mention connection and IP address logs, do they keep those logs?

EarthVPN probably keeps:

  • Connection logs
  • IP address logs

Does EarthVPN bypass Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) or similar VPN blocking firewalls?

Countries like China, Turkey, Russia etc. implement firewalls that block access to VPN services. As an example, China uses the Great Wall of China (GFW) system to block most VPNs and proxies. Some VPN services use extra protocols so that users in those countries can bypass VPN block.

EarthVPN claims that the VPN can evade deep packet inspection in countries like China, Iran, etc.

How much cost EarthVPN subscription?

You can pay monthly or annually for EarthVPN subscription. If you subscribe annually, then you will be paying $3.33 per month or $1.11 per device. At first the pricing may seem OK, but one should consider that features like SOCKS proxy/SSH Tunnel and 256bit Encryption, which are offered free at some VPN providers, come at the cost of $1.99 each.
