My First Impression

You may have not heard much of FoxyProxy, a US based small VPN and proxy provider, which distinguishes from other providers by offfering custom plans fro corporate customers. You may also have heard about their free proxy client browser extension.

My first impression about the website is above average. The website is easy to use, and you can find necessary info about the provider. However, not much info is given about the company, only names and photos of several staff members, which makes the company look less professional. Also, the website is offered only in English language and lacks live support.

On the main page, it is stated that FoxyProxy is used by millions, it is not a false statement, but FoxyProxy free web browser extensions are used by millions and not their VPN/proxy services. False advertising, obviously.

Does FoxyProxy keep logs?

FoxyProxy does not keep any logs, except for bandwidth usage which is identified by usernames of the users. It is also stated that nothing else is logged, which means FoxyProxy does not log IP adress (except for FoxyDNS) and internet activity.

FoxyProxy Logging Policy

So to reiterate FoxyProxy stores:

  • connection logs (bandwidth)

Payment information is not stored by FoxyProxy, it is stored by Recurly, payment provider of FoxyProxy.

However, FoxyProxy has to log data about its clients, if it is required by US court order.

FoxyProxy Logging Policy

Does FroxyProxy bypass Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) or similar VPN blocking firewalls?

Countries like China, Iran, etc. implement firewalls that block access to anonymising services such as VPN or proxy servers. As an example, China uses the Great Wall of China (GFW) system to block most VPNs and proxies. As expected most VPNs get blocked in the process, but certain VPN services use extra protocols, so that users in those countries can bypass VPN block.

Even though nothing is mentoned about ability of FoxyProxy VPN or proxy to bypass deep packet inspection, I should mention that FoxyProxy offers SOCKS5 proxy, which in my practice is able bypass deep packet inspection.

In a question from one of users in FoxyProxy forum, FoxyProxy staff advises to use their services in China, but no guarantee is given.

Pricing of FoxyProxy

Before going into pricing I would like to highlight couple of  differencies of FoxyProxy. The main advantage of FoxyProxy is that, there is no limit in number of simultaneous connections. In other words, you can use as many devices as you wish at the same time. However, it is stated that you are not allowed to share your credentials with others, and only one person can use the VPN/proxy.

In FoxyProxy, you cannot choose from several locations and connect to any of them. You are given proxy/VPN with a specific IP address, and you can change it by contacting their support.

You can buy FoxyProxy subscription for 1 month, 6 months or 12 months. If you choose annual plan, then you will be paying $7.49 per month, which gives you access to FoxyProxy  unlimited devices at a time.

For the pricing, I cannot say whether it is affordable or not. If only one person uses it, the price is higher than that of competitors’. However, if it was possible to use, like with 10 people, then the pricing would be ok.

FoxyPoxy Pricing

FoxyProxy accepts only major credit/debit cards and PayPal payments.

FoxyProxy does not offer free trial, but if you want to test before investing your money, 7-day money-back-guarantee is offered. I would like to underline that, refunds are not “no question asked refund”, FoxyProxy decides whether you can recieve a refund or not.

What features are offered by FoxyProxy?

– Supported Platforms

FoxyProxy supports Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, Android and iOS platforms. However, there are no standalone apps for iOS and macOS, also somehow their android app has not been updated since 2016. FoxyProxy offers free browser extensions for proxies, with good ratings, which can be used for any proxy. They falsely advertise that they support Smart TVs, and then in the instructions it is shown how to share VPN connection from a PC/Mac.

– Supported Protocols

FoxyProxy offers PPTP, IPSec and OpenVPN protocols, in addition to HTTP, HTTPS and SOCSK5 proxies.

– Number of Servers

More than 96 servers from 96 countries are offerd by FoxyProxy. After registration, one server details will be sent to you, and if you want to change your server, you should contact support.
